Ford’s Facebook Fans Choose “Mayhem” Moniker for the Mustang V6 Performance Package

Ford held a contest on its official Mustang Facebook page asking fans to suggest a name for the new V6 Performance Package. More than 3,000 submissions were made and nearly 6,700 users installed the “You Name It” app that let them take part in the contest. Some 1.4 million fans were then asked to vote with the winning name being “Mayhem Mustang Package”. The top-voted submission came from Jeremy Marler from North Carolina, who won a three-year lease on a 2012 Mustang, equipped of course with the Mayhem Mustang Package. Read more »

Inspired by a scene from the upcoming Fast Five film or as some fans refer to it, Fast and Furious 5, in which the protagonists try out different cars to find the right one for a risky heist, the folks over from Autotopia set out to test numerous tuned cars on a race track to see which one is best suited for the task.

Flashback: Steve McQueen Drives the 2005 Ford Mustang... 25 Years after His Death

In 1980, the world lost a cultural icon. Steve McQueen, the star of such films as Bullitt and Le Mans, had died. Metastatic cancer had claimed the life of the King of Cool.

Still, the legacy lives on. The actor’s love of cars and motorcycles was well known. McQueen competed in many motor races including the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Baja 1000. He also owned several semi-unique vehicles including a Jaguar XKSS, a Porsche 356 Speedster and a Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso. Here was a man who loved his cars almost as much as we loved his movies.

We don’t know if this is a factory 800-horsepower Super Snake or a privately tuned GT500, but something went very wrong during this dyno test... It might have happened due to insufficient cooling or a faulty component - we just don't know. Whatever the cause, the owner is one unhappy guy.
