Silverstone Organisers Ask: What is the Best British Sports Car of All Time?


The fifteen finalists in the Silverstone Classic’s, “Best British Sports Car of All Time” vote-in have been announced, and boy is there some choice picks. Before we get to that though, can I just point out a misnomer in using the, “of All Time” qualifier?

This assumes (prophetically?) that Britain will not be making any more sports cars in the future, whereas, “Best British Sports Car So Far” would be a far more accurate description. But enough with semantics: who are our lucky finalists? Read on….

Barnfind Shelby AC Cobra, and a one owner, less than 7.4 thou miles '62 Benz 300SL roadster getting auctioned by Gooding Jan 21st

Said to be the only unrestored Cobra in blue and red livery, the '64 AAC Cobra spent 33 years in "storage" yet comes off as surprisingly lustworthy in spite of that. It began life as Carroll Shelby's promo car at SoCal racing venues, was pulled from the deeep barn sleep to do the 2010 Pebble Beach

The above is rare, it's a air cooled opposed piston engine like the VW... DB is the symbol on the nose of the car... stands for Duetsch something... I can't recall, but it was a French company and it was made for rally racing.

Racing in Lima Peru, late 60's early 70's

2 of the 5 Shelby G.T350 R imported to Lima, PerĂº in the mid 60`s for racing purposes. 1 got totalled, 3 were sold to private collectors in the US and the last one is still missing.
